Though conventionally folded filter catridges offer a big surface and,   nevertheless, by the high pleated density only a low part of the surface is available for the   dirty admission. The "blind" useless filter surface is therefore in the lower part of the filter   cartridge (see picture) where the folds lie very close each other. The Betafine XL filter   cartridge are so produced by a patented pleating process with varying pleated depth that in   the pleated low a bigger distance is between the folds. This advancedly changing pleated   technology with enlarged free filter surface allows an extremely bigger dirty admission   between the single folds in the lower area, while the reduced pleated depth in the upper   area the known advantages of the enlarged filter surface.
