The side canal compressor generates in the filter case a subpressure by which the ölnebelhaltige air is sucked off. This air flows through the filter elements which intercept the fine oil droplets carried along by the air. The oil droplets koaleszieren about the depth of the element and are pressed by the airflow to the downstream lying external surface of the filter element.
