Filter design LifeASSURETM
PSA |
With LifeASSUR to filters there comes the improved FlexN membrane technology of 3M to the
use*. This allows an up to now
unequalled flexibility in the production of a multi layered membrane.
LifeASSURE filter combine two pioneering procedures, the
FlexN membrane production and the pleating process. Advanced Pleat
Technology (APT). They allow a reliable filtration by a pore
size of 0.1 and 0.2 µm and distinguish themselves by an extremely long life span.
LifeASSURE filter pass of two situations of a
pleated nylon 6.6 membranes in a Polypropylene cartridge construction and sine ideally for a wide range of infertile filtration
processes in the pharmaceutical, biological and biotechnological industry suitably. |
Flex-NTM Membrane Technology |
With LifeASSUR to filters there comes the improved FlexN membrane
technology of 3M to the usez*. This allows an up to now unequalled
flexibility in the production of a multi layered membrane.
This membrane
owns a very efficient back position as well as an excellent admission
capacity for pollutions. The accompanying admission with the grid
electron microscope shows a single layer of the LifeASSURE FlexN to
membrane, consisting of an 'open" area on the "upstream" side and a
"thicker" area on the "downstream" side. The construction of the
membrane from several situations allows an extremely high state time.
Two layers of the FlexN membrane are used in the production by
LifeASSURE filter cartridges to make such a reliable filter for the
validated infertile filtration. LifeASSURE of filters for the validated infertile
filtration there is as filter cartridges and capsules by a pore size of 0.1
and 0.2 µm. The common use of LifeASSURE to filters and 3M
LifeASSURE PB to prefilters provides for optimum system achievement.

Excellent Retention of Micro Organism |
0.1 and 0.2 µm LifeASSURE filter are validated for the absolute back position by B. diminuta (ATCC 19146) according to the
ASTM method (ASTM = American Society of Testing and Material) with a least back position of 107 CFU/cm2 filter surface.
The results of the bacterial backing tests were correlated with integrity check (diffusion, Bubble Point).
Moreover, 0.1 µm
SterASSURE filter are laid out for an absolute back position by mykoplasmen (Acholeplasma laidlawii, ATCC 23206). |
Advanced Pleat TechnologyTM |
The company state time of folded filter
cartridges is dependent basically on the accessible
filter surface. Though conventionally folded filter cartridges offer a big surface and,
nevertheless, by the high pleated density only a low part of the surface is available for the
dirty admission. The "blind" useless filter surface is therefore in the lower part of the filter
cartridge (see picture) where the folds lie very close each other. The
LifeASSURE filter
cartridge are so produced by a patented pleating process with varying pleated depth that in
the pleated low a bigger distance is between the folds. This advancedly changing pleated
technology with enlarged free filter surface allows an extremely bigger dirty admission
between the single folds in the lower area, while the reduced pleated depth in the upper
area the known advantages of the enlarged filter surface. The result is a complete
exploitation of the available membrane surface and allows therefore a superior company
state time. |

Long Service Life and Safe Sterile Filtration |
Comparison of the state time by filters by a pore size of 0.2 µm
The information in the accompanying diagramme proves that
LifeASSURE filter produce not only a dependable filter achievement,
but also own an especially long life span.
The state time of LifeASSURE
to filters and filters of other manufacturers (in each case by a pore size
of 0.2 µm) were allowed by means of a test suspension.
With filters CUNO LifeASSURE a clearly higher state time could be
achieved.
SterASSURE filter have an up to 40% higher state time. |

State time of prefilter final filter systems
(by a pore size of 0.2 µ m)
The LifeASSURE infertile filter are suitable for the application in
connection with 3M LifeASSURE PB to prefilters optimally. Because both
filters own a FlexN nylon 6.6 membranes, this reduces the cause of
extractable remains and potential interactions with the filtration product
in comparison to the systems with which prefilters and final filters exist
of different materials. Besides, an excellent state time allows the unique
FlexN to membrane technology. To compare the state time of 3M
LifeASSURE-LifeASSURE PSA of filter system to prefilter final filter to
systems of other manufacturers, investigations with a test suspension
were carried out. The results shown in the accompanying diagramme
show that 3M LifeASSURE-SterASSURE filter system excels the filter
systems of other manufacturers around the 4-5-fold!
For an optimum achievement it is advisable to start LifeASSURE
0.8 µm to the prefiltration before a LifeASSURE 0.2 µm of filter and
LifeASSURE 0.45 µm to the prefiltration of a LifeASSURE 0.1 µm of
filter.
